Pilgrimage to Yamunotri

Set an altitude of 3293 mt in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, Yamnotri is among the revered destinations of Char Dham. The holy river Yamuna originates from Yamunotri Glacier at a height of 6,387 mt, near Bandarpunch peaks in lower Himalayas. Visitors can also hire horses or palanquins that are available here.

Yamnotri Temple
Yamnotri Temple perched at an altitude of 3235 m, is a place of worship where thousand of pilgrims mark their presence. The 19th century temple was built by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur. Goddess Yamuma is the presiding deity here. It is a point of paramount religious significance for Hindu devotees. The temple is accessible by a thirteen km trek from the town of Hanuman Chatti and six km walk from Janki Chatti.

Surya Kund
