Jungle Highlights: Swamp Deer, Sambar, Rhino, Chital, Hog Deer,Established in the year 1958, Dudhwa National Park has been designated of as having the largest surviving endangered species. The park is located in the Indo-Nepal border,Uttar Pradesh,India and covers a wide area of 490 sq km. The marshy land of the park has been carpeted with thick dense sal forests and hugely popular for its diverse wild life population. In 1977, Dudhwa got the recognition as a National park and latter was adopted in the arena of project tiger in 1988.
Major Wildlife Attractions in Dudhwa National Park
Other than Tiger,the main attraction of the park are its Swamp Deer (Barasingha) and Rhinos. Also there are at least 37 species of mammals and 16 species of reptiles. Catering with a rich bird life of over 350 species the region is remarkable for providing a natural habitat for the winter migratory birds, Great Slaty Woodpecker and other endangered birds like Lesser Bengal Florican and Swamp Partridge. The very beauty of the park lies in its lake,which offers a picture perfect scene of wild life like hog deer, machans(birds) etc. Dudhwa is also the homeland of the greatest number of owls and storks. Of the different species in owl the great Indian horned owl, the forest eagle owl , brown wood owl and the jungle owlet are found abundantly. And of the variety of storkes white-necked stork, black stork, painted stork, white stork,open-billed stork and the adjutant stork are common. History also marked the region as an area where Indian Rhinoceros was reintroduced.

Safari
There is no restriction to move around the park with your own four-wheeler. The best part lies in elephant safaris,where the mahout guides the traveler.
Bird Watching The park is the best destination for bird lovers. One can soothes his eyes and as well heart when come across the chirping sound of birds, flying high from one tree to other.
Jungle Resorts in Dudhwa
One best way to enjoy the place of pleasure is to stay in to some nearby hotels. Dudhwa Forest Resthouse, Tharu Huts are a better place of accomodation.

- Situated nearby the park is the historic city of Lucknow,or the visitors can take additional punch by a visit to the holy water of Ganga or Varanasi.
- One can also enjoy a trip to Agra and view Taj Mahal,an antique piece in the earth.
- The famous Stone Frog Temple at Oyal comes on the way to Dudhwa,which has its kind of monuments built by the former Maharajas of the very state.
- Surat Bhawan Palace,built by the rulers of a the Singhai state,is not far away from the Dudhwa park. Designed with fountains, swimming pool and architectural fact,this palace makes a worthwhile visit

How to reach Dudhwa National Park
Air
Drive a car or catch a train from Delhi to Shahjehanpur and reach Dudhwa. Or fly to Lucknow from any major cities across the country and make a 6 hours drive to Dudhwa.
Rail
The nearest railway station are Dudhwa (4 kms), Palia (10 kms) and Mailani (37 kms). One convenient way is to travel to Lucknow and take a bus or a train to any of the nearer stations from there.
Road
Bus services provided by the State Roadways buses and private offices connects the way from Palia to Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly and Delhi. Buses are frequent between Palia and Dudhwa.
